Most will agree that the Children’s Arts Program (CAP) of TUAC is one of the most important and worthwhile reasons to have a viable and dynamic arts council. One of the main objectives of TUAC is to provide enriching, educational, and entertaining artists and performances to the children in our schools. The Arts Council spends more than 13,000 dollars each year to
accomplish this very worthwhile objective. A great deal of effort is made to ensure that all children will have experienced a variety of quality performances in the arts by the time they finish high school.
Because of the dynamics of the population in Upson County, the Children’s Arts Program is most important. It is so exciting to see the enjoyment and wonderment on the students’ faces as they enjoy the “arts experience!” And who knows, just one special performance might encourage a child to reach for a dream or push him or her to follow a special talent.
Every summer the children of Upson County can enjoy the TUAC Arts Camp where they can be the artists and performers. A week of enrichment through fun activities is available for all children at a very low cost, and scholarships are available for children who can’t afford the price but have a real interest in visual or performing art.
What else can be said about TUAC’s Children’s Arts Program? We must keep it going! It is a wonderful gift to our community.
